Whatever you’re into, there’s a festival to suit your tastes. I’m sure (because you’re reading this) that books are your thing! So read on for some fabulous book festivals coming up (I’m lucky enough to have a spot at some of these):

Herts Book Festival – 7-8 May

I’ll be at the author market in the Hertford Castle grounds on 7 May and at Fletcher’s Lea in Ware on 8 May.

This event feels special to me for a few reasons:

  • It’s the first year of this festival
  • I used to live in Ware and work in Hertford so I’m looking forward to going back
  • My daughter will be helping me

As well as the author market there is a full programme of events on both days including workshops for aspiring authors, book-inspired dance showcases, storybook yoga (check out Maria Oliver – yoga-teacher turned children’s author) and children’s story-time sessions (I’ll be doing these).

Wild Words Festival – 3-5 June

Another new festival for 2022. My author friend Brian Frederick will be there sharing his Siggy the Sausage Dog stories. This looks like an amazing event with 3 stages to rival any music fest!

I’m booked elsewhere that weekend, but if you attend, please let me know your how it goes! Would love to put it on my list for another year – either as an author or a visitor.

Essex Book Festival

This must be the biggest festival! It ‘officially’ runs through June, but actually has events in May and July too.

Another special one for me, as it was the first festival I attended and I’ve been invited back every year since.

This year, I’m running a Lum’s Mum workshop on 18 June at Chelmsford Library as part of the Essex Book Festival’s Family Fun Day. It is FREE to attend, but you will need to book tickets in advance.

Essex Book Festival is truly a festival for everyone with a vast array of events.

Barnes Children’s Literature Festival

This is a big festival with some BIG names. This year you can see Lauren Child, Rob Biddulph, Nick Sharrat and many others!

I was lucky enough to be part of the festival in 2021 and had a great day out sharing Lum stories with families.

To see all the events I’m attending this summer, please take a look at the Events page.
